Update: The 2007 Lone Pine Time Trials autocross is only 6 weeks away! (June 2-3)
This year, the event is sanctioned by the SCCA. No one seems to know at this point what that actually means. registration forms should be available soon. When they are I'll post the link. -Tony |

Don't jump to conclusions so fast Slits. This sanctioning only happened recently. I can't imagine they are going to totally ruin the event. As long as they allow the beater class at least.

More updates.
Here's an email from Leah, one of my friends from UCSB (they were the group with the gas powered margharita maker (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) Ok, I just talked to Renee and got the latest scoop on LP2007 and the changes being made because of the SCCA sanctioning. The good news is that, for the most part, nothing is changing. The only reason theyre sanctioned this year is that was the only way they could get insurance for the event. We still have our beater class, and we can still run with the minimal safety equipment that they have been requiring for the past howevermany years. That means basically a seat thats bolted down (sorry, no milk crates, folks) and a working seat belt. It also means that convertibles are ok without rollbars. There are a couple of things theyre requiring this year but I think we mostly followed these rules anyway. Namely, you have to wear closed toes shoes, long sleeves and long pants. Theyre not going to check for approved helmets, so motorcycle helmets and ones past date are still ok, as long as theres something on your head. And registration is OPEN! So send in those entries. Renee wants to see them. And she said to say hi to all of you losers. Her words, not mine. :-p ----------------------------- I emailed her back asking about a link to the registration on line, apprently it is in the works at this very moment. So maybe tomorrow we'll have a link. But the forms were sent Friday to everyone who went last year. So Slits, relax, nothing has changed! -Tony |

Tony .... still working on the "Torrid Tercel". Don't know if it will be ready in time. Got another engine, but it had a broken ring land on one piston. Still trying to "refresh" the mighty 1445 cc power monster. Stand back Ferrari .... figure this puppy is gonna make 2-300 HP. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

I've got a turbocharger from a 1.8 liter Subaru motor. Wonder if that would spice things up for the 1.5 L motor? Sounds like you have enough work as it is. If I get my front radiator installation done in time I can come out and help you.
I still think you should chop the roof line off and make it into a Tercel Speedster, aka Terdster. -Tony |
